3 Reasons to Give Thanks (Even When It's Hard)

 1. It Changes Your Mind

When you focus on what’s wrong, you are holding court in the valley of despair. When you give thanks, you move your heart to the throne of grace. It shifts your perspective from the problem to the Provider. "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise..." (Psalm 100:4). Use gratitude to change your mind right now.

2. It Protects your Heart from Anxiety.

Gratitude protects your heart from bitterness and anxiety. It acts as a shield that prevents the trials of life from causing mental and emotional liability. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6) Think of thanksgiving as your payment for peace. It ensures that even in a crash, your joy remains covered.

3. It Precedes the Miracle

In the Bible, many instances of victory came after the people started thanking God. Gratitude is an act of faith that says, "I trust God even before I see the results." "Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated..." (John 6:11) Give thanks for the results while you wait for God’s response. Your gratitude is the evidence that you believe God’s Word.
